The death of Sleeping Beauty
So I went to my brother and sister-in-law's house for Thanksgiving last year. I was there for less than 24 hours, but it was good to be with them. On the ride back to the airport, I sat in the back between my nieces. My brother played chauffeur. There is a mini DVD player on the back of each of the front seats. Sleeping beauty was their choice for the car ride. The older one, Brinnley, said to me, "I'm going to tell you a story about Sleeping Beauty. Once upon a time Sleeping Beauty pricked her hand on a spinning wheel. She died, but Prince Phillip saved her." At that point, little Ainsley piped in. In her little high voice she said to me, "I'm going to tell you a story about Sleeping Beauty, OK? Once upon a time, SLEEPING BEAUTY DIED!!!" I'm telling you, her voice was normal until the last three words-SLEEPING BEAUTY DIED! Then, it turned a little sinister, actually. After she said it, she just looked up at me and smiled so big her squinty eyes completely shut. I looked at my brother in the rear view mirror, and he just looked at me with a, "That's our Ainsley" look. I thought to myself as I looked at her smiling face after that sinister declaration, "I'm afraid of you, just a little bit." Oh how I love colorful little Ains.
