Baseball
I don't know what it is, but there's something about coming across a Red Sox/Yankee game on TV that makes my heart beat fast. So, I was just flipping through channels the other day on my aunt and uncle's fancy Dish Network, and there it was ... Sox vs. Yankees. I couldn't resist. It was the bottom of the 8th. 2-0 Yankees, and Yankees at bat. My first thought was, "Oh no, I hope they can do it. C'mon Boston, give me some of that good Red Sox magic!" 8th inning ended with no more runs scored. Boston at bat. It's a slow start at first. The players have been strategically placed in the line up, and each has a task to accomplish. This is how it went down ... 2 batters hit by the Yankees pitcher (it seems as though he's off his game), one more makes it to base. Bases loaded. All we need is one hit, just one long hit. Several foul balls give false optomism. Next batter strikes out. Ok, based loaded, 2 outs. The pressure is on. He's focused, concentrated. He swings ... strike - completely misses the ball. The middle pitches are a little blurry to me at this point. Then, the New York crowd on their feet, one more is thrown and ... swing ... miss. Strike out. Bases loaded, 2 strike outs. It's over. Yankees take it. I was immensely sad. It is undisputed fact that the Red Sox rock. 2 World Series Championships in 3 years. C'mon who can say anything but good about this amazing team from Beantown. But that night I remembered the words spoken by a loving uncle to his wide-eyed nephew on the movie Fever Pitch - "Careful kid. They'll break your heaht."
But for love of the game, and particularly the Red Sox, I'll continue to watch with bated breath. Thus is the joy of baseball ... the perfect game.

Sigh. I miss Red Sox. I've been to a Braves game here a couple times, and the crowd is just not into it like Fenway. Still fun, but not the same.
