Mama's visit!

My mom came to see me in Boston! I'd been wanting to show her around this city for a while now, so I'm so glad she made it. We did a lot and ended up exhausted, but all in the name of good sightseeing fun. We went to Fenway Park, of course. It is a highlight of Boston and not far from my place. We were planning to do a park tour, but ended up running out of time so we just walked all around it. Ahhh, smell those Fenway Franks!

Here is the oldest firestation in the U.S.A. (if I remember right). Mom used to be a volunteer firefighter so we had to get a shot of this. The arches are so small that the new fire trucks didn't fit, so they specially constructed the trucks for this firehouse! This is just down Boylston Street-very near my place.

This is the back of the State House. The top of the eagle's head marks how high the land used to be there. It really was "Beacon Hill". They dug it out and put our new state house there.

Oh yeah, and softball was played. Our FHE activity just happened to be softball the Monday my mom was here and she was quickly swooped onto the field when they saw the glove on her hand. She was excited and had a good time doing what she loves! She got some good hits, and got to play first base! Good times.

This is the Old North Church. Mom used to sing us to sleep every night as kids and one of the songs was about Paul Revere and the revolution. I always loved that song and it felt so cool to me to be living in the place where Paul Revere and others fought for American freedom. Soon after moving here, I visited the North End where his house was and where the Old North Church is located. This church is where two lanterns were hung in the tower indicating to Paul Revere and many other revolutionaries that the British were coming by sea. When the signal appeared, the night ride warnings began and the battles ensued. This story has always fascinated me and one of the first things my mom said she wanted to see was the Old North Church and Paul Revere's home. It was really cool to me to be able to see these places with her - the one who taught me about this part of our nation's history and who shares these endearing feelings for these brave men.

Isn't this a sweet shot!?! We took this from our Boston Harbor Cruise boat. We went on a trolley tour through Boston, and it included a Harbor Cruise. We had amazing weather and Mom loved it!

This is the Boston Public Library's courtyard in Copley Square. Do you feel like you're in Venice?

Overall, we had a great time. We stayed up late talking like girlfriends, shopped, went out to eat, and saw Boston. It was great! I'm so happy she got to come see where I live and meet a lot of my friends here. Oh! How could I forget?! My birthday party was awesome. My mom made homemade vanilla and coconut ice cream and we had a little get together at the Christian Science Center Plaza. What fun. Then we went back to my apartment for a viewing of my favorite movie - Secondhand Lions. Twenty people filled our livingroom to the brim and all enjoyed the movie. I loved it and it was so nice to have my mom here on my birthday. I love her!
